Health and safety in the workplace is more important than ever, both for employees mindful of their own responsibilities and businesses with legal accountability.

The Level 1 Award in Health and Safety Awareness (RQF) has been created to give learners an understanding of the hazards and risks within their working environment. It can also be used to train learners who are preparing for employment, and provides them with an understanding of the main responsibilities of employees and employers in terms of health and safety.

• the process of maintaining health, safety and welfare within own workplace or place of learning
• the role of risk assessments within own workplace or place of learning
• where to find health and safety-related information within own workplace or place of learning
